A dream becomes reality

Bunny Crafts Oxford has existed in some form or shape since 2012 when I first opened my Etsy shop. Back then I had dreams of creating bespoke hand-made jewellery using my beading skills. Unfortunately personal circumstances halted this dream and it remained just a hobby.

At the beginning of 2020 two of my closest friends had their first child and I wanted to give them something unique. I remembered my first soft toy and that I still had him and so I decided to crochet a toy for their baby boy. Little did I realise that this was going to be the start of an obsession with Fibre Arts and Crafts and the birth of Bunny Crafts Oxford in its current shape.

My Nanna taught me to knit and crochet when I was 5 or 6 years old and I have been doing it on and off since. I love the catharsis, it creates as well as the satisfaction and pride you get from the finished object. So when lockdown rolled around it kept me sane and more than that it filled a creative gap in me that I wasn’t aware I had. As with most Fibre Crafts it went from making cute amigurumi to “I want to do this for a living” in ohh a minute and a half! I created an Instagram profile and was introduce to the most wonderful community or makers.

The yarn dying came in the summer of 2020 when through social media I was introduced to the gorgeous world of colour and fluffy fibre – and I have not looked back!

I am still a novice dyer finding my voice and my style. I have a feeling that my style will end up being a little bit of everything as I enjoy so many of the different dying techniques.

The YouTube Channel for Bunny Crafts Oxford allows me to not only test all of these techniques but also share it with you and to learn together.

My aim is to create beautiful yarns and grow a community of people that supports each other in the wonderful journey of creativity.
